We're building the security layer for AI.

AI is being deployed everywhere. We think it should be secure everywhere.

AI systems are making decisions, taking actions, and handling sensitive data at a scale that wasn't possible two years ago. The attack surface is growing fast, but the security layer hasn't kept up.

SonnyLabs exists to fix that. We build security tooling that detects and blocks prompt injections, jailbreaks, and data leakage in real-time, for any AI system, in one line of code. Built for developers who are shipping fast, and for security teams who need to know their AI applications are protected.

Where it started

SonnyLabs began as a research question: what would it actually take to make AI secure?

That question was pursued by our team through academic research at University College Dublin, studying the intersection of cybersecurity and AI, not just for agents, but for AI systems broadly. The outcome was a set of proprietary detection models built from the ground up. Not retrofitted from existing tools. Not dependent on OpenAI or Anthropic infrastructure. Purpose-built, independent, and optimised for the realities of production AI.

That research became SonnyLabs.

Security that moves at the speed of development

Enterprise security vendors want a six-week implementation and a procurement cycle. That model does not work when teams are shipping AI applications every week.

We built SonnyLabs so that adding security is as easy as adding any other dependency. One pip install. One function call. Works with any LLM, any framework, any architecture. 10,000 free requests a month before you spend a penny.

Security should not be a barrier to building. It should be what lets you build with confidence.

The team

We have built security products at Microsoft, run reliability engineering at Google, shipped infrastructure at Oracle, and co-founded startups. We came together because AI security is one of the most important unsolved problems in software right now.

CEO

Liana spent 8 years building security products at Microsoft and Workday before founding SonnyLabs. She holds a BSc in Computer Science and Business from Trinity and an MSc in Cybersecurity from UCD. She has two great passions in life that both happen to start with CY: CYbersecurity and CYcling. The cybersecurity part built SonnyLabs. The cycling part means she will happily drag you up a steep hill on a road bike and call it a good time.

CTO

Niall co-founded Stanza, led Reliability Engineering at Google, and was Global Head of Azure Reliability Engineering at Microsoft. He has also written two books: one on Reliability Engineering and one on Reliable Machine Learning, both considered essential reading in their fields. His house is full of books. Every shelf, every surface, every corner. At SonnyLabs he brings the kind of systems thinking that comes from keeping some of the world's largest infrastructure running reliably, applied to AI security.

Infrastructure Engineer

George studied Computer Science in Bucharest and has spent three decades writing software, which means he has survived every major paradigm shift in the industry and has very strong opinions about all of them. Most recently a Principal Software Engineer at QAD. Outside of engineering, George plays chess with the same intensity he brings to infrastructure: think twelve moves ahead, and never leave a vulnerability unguarded.

Operations and Infrastructure Engineering

Brian studied Physics and Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin and went on to become a Principal Software Engineer at Oracle, building infrastructure that had to perform at scale. Ask Brian what his most important priority is and he will not mention code. He will talk about his family. That clarity carries into everything he builds.

Marketing

Vaman studied Strategic Management and Community Engagement at University College Dublin. He also travels to a different country every month, not as a tourist but as someone who genuinely wants to understand new places and new people. He brings that same curiosity to understanding the people SonnyLabs is built for, which turns out to be a pretty good foundation for marketing.

Jacob is a Software Engineering student at RIT in the Accelerated BS/MS program with a 3.93 GPA. He works across multiple languages including C++, Java, Python, and C#, and has developed VR experiences using Unity Engine to build empathy for those living with anxiety disorders. At SonnyLabs, he brings both technical versatility and the ability to jump into existing codebases, debug rapidly, and deliver on accelerated timelines.

Building the security layer for the agentic web

We are at the beginning of the agentic AI era. The developers and security teams building it deserve protection that works as fast as they do, integrated in minutes and completely out of the way.

That is what we are building.
